Sierra de Irta

These large natural areas are protected from the action of man developer.

The north coast of Alcossebre, La Sierra de Irta, displays ample natural countryside, apart from man-made urbanizations It has rich, varied, indigenous vegetation, where a whole series of flora typical of the Mediterranean grows, forming groups of plants of notable ecological and forest importance. This is composed of mainly semi-dry scrubland, where amongst others the following can be found, fennel, blackthorn, European fan palm, rosemary, heather, gorse, thyme, cat's tail, lavender, oleander (rosebay), tree strawberry, grass, brambles, rock tea and pennyroyal, rock rose, juniper, chamomile, etc.

There are various hiking routes to go on over the great natural space of the Sierra de Irta.
