The dunes

They are a unique example of both vegetation and location.

The dunes are located between Carregador and Romana beaches, and sand from them contributes to their formation. The whole group is made up of a base of rocks, which form the so-called Punta del Carregador, or Roquer Martí. The height of the dunes at present is about four metres, and the area they occupy is around 6,000 m2.

The dunes are subject to winds from one or other of the beaches, giving them an irregular shape; so, they comprise of numerous small mounds of short length. There is also an irregular distribution of various species of vegetation.

The shape of the dunes is altered by bathers who either rest there, or use them to cross from one beach to another. Small paths form and reduce the height of the dunes.

The dunes do not endanger any crops and are worth conserving. They are a unique example of both vegetation and location.
